- Hi everyone-- I have a friend who a couple of months ago bought a Boca 28.8
- internal modem. He tried to install it to com 2 but it wouldn't work no
- matter what we tried. Someone suggested that he try com 3. He installed it on
- com 3 and it worked!!!
- However, Acouple of months later he turned the computer off,
- (SOmething he rarely does) and when he turned it back on W95 wouldn't see his
- modem. He kept getting an error stating that another device was using the
- modem and to close that other program.......there was no other program.
- Anyways after a while he ended up reformating his HDD (He wanted to
- anyways so he could partition it differently) and then reloading W95. It still
- wont see the Boca. So he reinstalls his old no name 14.4 It works on com 2
- even. So, he exchanges the Boca for another one. Get it home.....same old
- problem it won't work at all on any com port. Confusion reigns.
-
- A quick rundown on his system:
- 486 DX2-66
- Unknown brand Mainboard
- Soundblaster 16 sound card
- Unknown brand combo controller card/ video card/ I/O card Vesa local bus
- and a &^#$#$%&( Modem by Boca that won't work.
-
- At this point all he has is his hardware and Windows 95 loaded. Nothing else
- can be using the modem as there is no other software loaded.
-
- If you know of (Or hope to know of) any possible remedies I would appreciate
- it if you would E-Mail me at erik.davis@on-ramp.ior.com
-
- Thanks in advance-Eric
